Rubber cables, also known as rubber-insulated flexible cables or HO7RN-F types, are designed for heavy-duty industrial applications requiring high mechanical strength and resistance to harsh environments. These cables typically feature a rubber compound insulation (EPR or EPDM) and a neoprene or chloroprene outer sheath, providing excellent flexibility even at low temperatures. Common configurations include 3-core, 4-core, and 5-core variants with cross-sections ranging from 1.5 mm² to 400 mm², rated for voltages up to 450/750 V. The rubber insulation offers superior resistance to abrasion, oils, chemicals, and UV radiation, making them ideal for outdoor and wet installations. They are often used as power supply cables for portable equipment, construction sites, and temporary installations where frequent bending and movement occur.
These cables are predominantly used in industrial environments such as factories, workshops, shipyards, and construction sites. They are also common in agricultural settings, mining operations, and outdoor events requiring temporary power distribution. Rubber cables are suitable for direct burial, cable trays, and conduit installations where flexibility and durability are paramount. Their robust construction makes them a preferred choice for connecting mobile machinery, generators, welding equipment, and heavy-duty power tools.
Key subcategories within rubber cables include HO7RN-F (heavy-duty rubber cables), H05RN-F (light-duty flexible cables), and specialized types like rubber-sheathed welding cables and submersible pump cables. Article codes typically follow the format "HO7RN-F 3G2.5" where "HO7RN-F" indicates the cable type, "3" the number of cores, "G" for green-yellow earth conductor, and "2.5" the cross-section in mm². Other common codes include "H05RN-F 2G1.5" for lighter applications and "HO7RN-F 5G6" for three-phase installations with neutral. These cables are available in various colors and drum lengths, often with custom cutting services.
