Capacitive proximity switches, also known as capacitive sensors or capacitive proximity detectors, are non-contact sensing devices that detect the presence or absence of any object, whether metallic or non-metallic, including liquids, powders, granules, and solids. These switches operate based on changes in capacitance caused by the target entering the sensor's electric field. Key technical parameters include sensing distance (typically from 1 mm to 25 mm), operating voltage (e.g., 10-30 VDC or 20-250 VAC), output type (PNP, NPN, or AC/DC 2-wire), housing material (brass, stainless steel, or plastic), and degree of protection (IP67 or IP68). They are available in cylindrical (M8, M12, M18, M30) and rectangular form factors, with flush or non-flush mounting options.
